Traditional Braces

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. You have the option of adding colored elastics to your brackets for a fun, colorful smile.

Clear Braces

Ceramic braces are made of a translucent material that is virtually clear. This makes them popular among our patients who are interested in maintaining a more natural-looking aesthetic during treatment, especially adults. The drawback to ceramic braces, however, is that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties may become discolored between visits to our office.

Gold Braces

Gold braces are similar to traditional metal braces in many ways. They are made of stainless steel but are uniquely coated in gold. The gold coating may be considered a more cosmetic option than traditional metal braces. The cost of gold braces is surprisingly comparable to most clear braces.

Early Treatment

Though an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, there is an optimal time period to begin treatment. Early age treatment ensures the greatest result and the least amount of time and expense. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of child orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. At this early age, orthodontic treatment may not be necessary, but vigilant examination can anticipate the most advantageous time to begin treatment.

Early evaluation provides both timely detection of problems and greater opportunity for more effective treatment. Prudent orthodontic intervention guides growth and development, preventing serious problems later. When orthodontic intervention is not necessary, an orthodontist can carefully monitor growth and development and begin treatment when it is ideal.
